UCC IPMC Appeals Board

UCC/IPMC Appeals Board

(Universal Construction Code. (UCC))

(International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC))

AVNCOG provides joint Unified Construction Code (UCC) and International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC) Boards of Appeal for its member communities in good standing.

The UCC Appeals Board hears and renders decisions on appeals, requests for variances, and requests for extensions of time under the Uniform Construction Code.  A property owner or property owner’s agent may seek a variance or extension of time or appeal a building code official’s decision by applying for a hearing on a form provided by the member community.  All requests for variances, extension of time, or appeals shall be filed no later than thirty (30) days after the determination.  The AVNCOG UCC Board of Appeal Bylaws specify the operations of the Board.

The IPMC Board of Appeals hears and renders decisions on matters when a property owner believes that the intent of the Code has been incorrectly interpreted. Unlike the UCC Board of Appeals, the IPMC Board of Appeals does not have the authority to grant variances or alter the Requirements of the Code.  A property owner or property owner's agent may seek a hearing on a form provided by the member community.  The IPMC Board of Appeal Bylaws specify the operations of the Board.

Both Boards meet on an as-needed basis.
